Broom Care

Caring for Handmade Broomcorn Brooms

General Care

Shake Out Debris: After each use, gently shake out any dirt or debris from the broom to keep it clean.

Avoid Excess Moisture: Keep your broom dry to prevent mold and mildew. If it gets wet, allow it to air dry completely before storing.

Storage: Hang your broom or store it upright to maintain its shape and prevent the bristles from becoming bent or misshapen.

Cleaning

Regular Cleaning: Occasionally rinse the bristles with water to remove dust and grime. Shake off excess water and let the broom air dry.

Deep Cleaning: For a deeper clean, mix a small amount of mild soap with water, dip the bristles in the solution, rinse thoroughly, and air dry. Add a few drops of vinegar to the water to help prevent mold.

Maintenance

Trim Bristles: If the bristles become uneven or frayed over time, trim them with scissors to maintain a neat and effective sweeping edge.

Refresh Bristles: Soak the bristles in warm water for 15-20 minutes, then let them air dry. This can help restore their original shape and stiffness.

Usage Tips

Sweep Gently: Use gentle, even strokes to prolong the life of your broom and prevent bristle damage.

Designated Areas: Use your broom for its intended purpose (indoor vs. outdoor sweeping) to maintain its effectiveness and durability.
