Candle Care

Caring for Handmade Beeswax Candles

General Care

Trim the Wick: Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to ¼ inch. This helps to control the flame and ensure a clean, even burn.

Burn Time: Allow your candle to burn until the entire top layer of wax is melted (usually 1-2 hours). This prevents tunneling and extends the life of your candle.

Recenter the Wick: After extinguishing the candle, if necessary, gently recenter the wick before the wax hardens to ensure an even burn next time.

Storage: Store your beeswax candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent them from becoming too soft or discolored.

Bloom: A white powdery substance called “bloom” can form on beeswax, especially darker colors. Gently buff your beeswax candle with a soft cloth to maintain its natural sheen to remove any bloom or dust.

Safety

Never Leave Unattended: Always burn candles within sight and extinguish them before leaving a room.

Keep Away from Flammables: Ensure your candle is placed away from curtains, papers, and other flammable materials.

Use a Stable Holder: Place your taper candle in a sturdy, heat-resistant holder that will catch any drips.

Keep Out of Reach: Keep candles away from children and pets to prevent accidents.

Avoid Drafts: Burn candles in a draft-free area to prevent uneven burning and excessive dripping.

Burn Time: For safety, burn your beeswax candle for no more than four hours at a time.
